At LAPP, we are committed to sustainable, environmentally responsible management and the efficient use of natural resources. To reduce our own CO₂ emissions, we place great importance on the resource-efficient operation of our buildings and facilities. Production, engineering, and administration are at the heart of LAPP. We continuously work to design, construct, and operate our buildings in accordance with the principles of sustainability. This also includes identifying the largest sources of energy consumption and continuously optimizing energy efficiency.

Since 2019, LAPP has sourced 100% renewable ("green") electricity for all of its operations in Germany, while also utilizing its own photovoltaic and geothermal systems. At many of LAPP's international sites, electricity is likewise generated from renewable sources using our own photovoltaic installations. Almost all LAPP production facilities and the majority of our distribution companies are certified according to ISO 14001. Twenty of our companies in the EMEA region jointly operate an energy management system under the ISO 50001 matrix certification. Consistent quality management in accordance with ISO 9001 ensures LAPP's high quality standards, with a strong focus on reliable and durable products.

Our environmental objective is to reduce the company's CO₂ emissions (Scope 1 & 2, base year: 2022) by 50% by 2027.

As part of our commitment to a climate-friendly future, we also focus on our value chain. Guided by the principles of the circular economy, LAPP works together with its partners to further develop products and processes aimed at preventing waste and making more efficient use of resources through reuse and recycling.

Our global logistics centres continuously coordinate which products are manufactured at which plants worldwide and in which logistics centres they are stored, taking into account their suitability for the global or local product portfolio with regional characteristics. This ensures shorter transportation routes and efficient delivery processes through advanced digital logistics solutions.

In addition, we are continuously looking for ways to optimize packaging, which plays an important role in protecting products and ensuring safe transportation, while also reducing material consumption, for example through a high proportion of recycled materials. Through internal initiatives, LAPP has reduced the use of plastic packaging and increased the share of recycled raw materials.

Specifically, LAPP has reduced the thickness of the plastic film used for packaging its cable products from 80 to 70 microns.

By using linerless labels, which do not require a silicone backing liner, hazardous waste generation is avoided. In addition, LAPP offers a collection service for the return and reuse of solid wooden cable drums. Solid wooden drums that are no longer suitable for reuse are recycled using a specialized wood compaction process. Through this recycling cycle, LAPP reduces wood waste by a factor of four.

In addition to implementing promising individual projects, we have set ourselves the goal of developing a comprehensive circular economy strategy.
